Today Morten Thomassen looks at the song that ended in 8th place in the Norwegian Eurovision 2023 final. ESC Covers google translated it from Norwegian to English.
It’s quite possible that the guys it fluctuated a bit maybe stole points from each other all the time 3 party songs finished last on the results list.
With only two points down to last place and only 3 points up to the place opposite, it was the men in Swing’it who captured 8th place and thus avoided coming last.
This would turn out to be one of the songs the two jury groups disagreed about the most, last place with the professionals and 3rd place with the public.
They themselves were satisfied with even being in the final, they actually had playing assignments in Svalbard which they had to cancel, so they had little faith in their own chance of a final place.
But, as previously mentioned, third place with the people shows that they had absolutely everything to do in a final, but since there were really only two songs that quickly gained the audience points, there was not much to “earn” from a third place with them to take them higher up on the overall results list.
No one can accuse these guys of false advertising, when the band name is Swing’it they have to have music that swings and no one can say anything other than this didn’t.
You can clearly see the difference between artists who rarely perform on stage and those who do this as a living and who have spent a lot of time entertaining audiences around the country and beach.
They don’t have to pretend to have fun on stage, what they do is 100% real.
It is quite possible that the vocalist got a little bit of over-ignition, it sounded like that a few times during their performance.
The biggest “problem” for these guys when they sang “Prohibition” was probably just that the professional jury in particular simply didn’t see this as up-to-date pop music and thus a song that didn’t quite fit into the ESC concept.
They should have been put on a month’s forced feeding of gloomy ballads, then they would probably have come up with better ideas, I think.
