WHY DID SKRELLEX ENDED IN 7TH PLACE?

Morten Thomas looks today at Skrellex who ended in 7th place at the 2023 Norwegian Eurovision selection. ESC Covers google translated it from Norwegian to English.

Nothing like good old-fashioned bubbly and sequin-infested batter if you ask me.

Unfortunately, it is all too rare that such songs manage to make it to a final and thus it was perhaps a brilliant move by NRK to let only the people decide the final songs.

Skrellex promised us a glitter hell, but if hell is as much fun as it looked on stage, then maybe it might be preferable every now and then.

Not entirely unexpectedly, the professional jury did not like this, second last with only 14 points, fortunately thanks to 40 points from the people up, which was actually a shared 4th place, so much so that in the end it was 7th place.

Here it’s full blast almost from the first note and we probably get exactly what we expect and then many in the audience will be happy, because if MGP is a genre, it’s probably exactly the kind of music we expect.

Kai Thomas, who is the person behind this figure, is a great vocalist and this song really stands out for me, it requires its artist to sing so well in a song with so much movement.

It is very possible that the fact that this was the final did something to the artist, I think the energy level was a little lower than in the final.

As the only artist, Skrellex made a costume change and in my opinion it was not for the better, the finale outfit was a bit too anonymous and drag competition rule 1 for drag artists was broken so it lasted.

When you get rid of my costume, that “unveiling” is to be shown in the picture, here we were cheated of the whole thing.

As you can see, there is a lot of teasing here, but all in all, the song “Love Again” caused a furor and will be a regular at MGP parties in the future, and the atmosphere in the hall was simply impeccable.
