Morten Thomassen had Atle first in his rankings and now discussed why it ended only in 3rd place. ESC Covers google translated it from Norwegian to English.
Atle ended up being my favorite in this year’s MGP final, exactly the type of song he sings is actually rarely something I like very much, but it’s very possible that he just managed to push the right buttons so that I was sold.
Rarely have we seen a more emotional artist leave the stage after a performance and it is quite possible that it touched many who watched.
However, one can wonder if many people thought there was a bit too much emotion over what was just a pop song, because he came very surprisingly to me in last place among the people.
It was the jury that had him second highest that saved the place on the bottom step of the winner’s place for the song “Masterpiece”.
When the two different jury groups disagree so much, Atle should be satisfied that it ended in bronze place and has thus not had to arrange a babysitter for the first two weeks in May.
That this song was jury food didn’t surprise me much, however, both the song and the performance were very similar to things we’ve seen Swedish artists do before, so maybe that was exactly what didn’t resonate with the Norwegian people.
Opting for an all-dark costume on a largely dark stage might not have been the smartest choice visually to capture the audience.
This was a non-issue for me, for me what happened on stage had a high goosebump factor and he delivered the goods to the fullest.
But, it would turn out that there were two tough ladies who would fight for the victory in the end.
