THE 12 SONGS THAT DID NOT REACH THE NORWEGIAN FINAL – SONG 1

Morten Thomassen will now look at the 12 songs in the Norwegian 2023 Eurovision selection that did not make it to the final and share some light on what could be the reason(s). ESC Covers google translated it from Norwegian to English.

The obvious answer to this question for all of the 12 songs that did not make it to Trondheim and the grand final is that there were at least three songs that received more votes than those in the telephone voting.

But, we should probably be able to squeeze out a few more explanations than just that.

Now I have no idea the position the individual songs that disappeared got in their respective semi-finals, so I rank them according to the chance they had of qualifying according to the bookmakers.

I will therefore start with Byron and JOWST who had the least chance of reaching the final from the first semi final, they should probably have a 17% chance.

The composer of the song has a victory under his belt, but there is never any guarantee of further success.

He chose to collaborate with an exciting, but perhaps a bit too mature artist in this game.

Well-grown artists rarely do well in this competition and that was amply demonstrated in this particular semi final.

As for the performance itself, the song was full of speed so it held, but that may not be the case for the vocalist.

It became somewhat stiff and stagnant which clashed a bit with the content of the song, which is a song where there probably wasn’t a lot of bothersome things happening, so to speak, but it was full of charm then.

Thus, I think many probably fell for something else they felt deserved their vote and then a song has no chance, I’m afraid.
