Thörnholm/Clauss/Attlerud compete in Norway’s Melodi Grand Prix 2016
MAKEDA performing STAND UP
The well-known Swedish composers Thomas Thörnholm, Michael Clauss and Danne Attlerud will compete in Norway’s Melodi Grand Prix on February 27th with the entry STAND UP, performed by MAKEDA, known from The Voice and Körslaget in Norway. The composers say:-” Makeda truly is the absolutely right person and voice for Stand Up! We know that NRK looked quite some time to find the best performer for the song and they really made it! We are extremely happy!” The recording of the lead song really went smoothly in Boomfactory Studio in Irsta, Västerås, Sweden, with backing vocals by Makeda and Kenya, Makeda’s backingvocals partner from numbers of recordings and live performances in Norway,
Stand Up is a modern pop song with roots in the history of soul, which Makeda, Thomas, Michael och Danne really hope will appeal to the Norwegian Melodi Grand Prix audience.
This is the 5th time the Swedish composers compete in Melodi Grand Prix, where the top score, so far, was reached 2004 when KNUT ANDERS SÖRUM won Melodi Grand Prix with the song HIGH composed by Thomas Thörnholm, Lasse Andersson and Danne Attlerud.
R O W TOP 12 SONGS – A MONSTER LIKE ME
Another surprise song (for some). The Norwegian 2015 entry A MONSTER LIKE ME sung by Morland & Debrah Scarlett. It is the only Norwegian song among the 12, ending out candidates such as Fairytale.

Again, giving my close relationship to Latvia and the delegation, this was easy.

AZERBAIJAN
This country is quite interesting; some years it is difficult dealing with them, some years easy. This year it was easier than normal.

ICELAND
Iceland has been fairly easy until last year when I was unable to get the promo CD in Copenhagen, and hands up music did post it to a friend in Europe after the contest. This year again it started off difficult but I did manage to get the promo CD in the end.

SWEDEN
Last year was very difficult, but this year it was very easy. Mans personally was very down to earth and I think we had good interaction with the press team of Sweden.

SWITZERLAND
This country ranks probably on top every year, no need to interact with them, they put the promo items into each pigeonhole almost from day one.

CYPRUS
Because I am quite impatient, this was a little difficult for me but in the end it was very easy, they just gave put the promo CD’s towards the end of week two.

SLOVENIA
100% change from last year when I was unable to get the promo CD. This year there were tons, for most one of the best as it has something like 9 remixes. I would have preferred rather 9 language versions.

POLAND
I got on very well with Monika’s husband and main composer of the song and got the beautiful promo CD quite fast.

RATING OF THE PRESS P R FOR EACH COUNTRY – PART 3
LITHUANIA
In the last few years, they have become one of the worst countries to deal with. This year was no different and in fact I did not lay eyes on any P R people from Lithuania. It was especially difficult for me since their song is my top favourite for 2015. Bea records said she got some CD singles, so hopefully I can order one from there.

IRELAND
Like Lithuania, it seems they simple have no promo material in the last years. Nobody seems to have even set eyes on anything, so probably there will be nothing, not even a postcard with the singer’s face on. Pity the song composed by the Swedish team did not win in the Irish selection because then we would have had something.

SAN MARINO
With Ralph Siegel’s company behind the entry, like the previous 3 years with Valentina, it is the easiest entry for 2015 to get. This is how P R should be done and such a pity it seldom reflects in success, as often the journalists do not report on this kind of thing.

MONTENEGRO
The P R of this country has really become good in the last years and they have one of the best heads of delegation. Both 2014 and 2015 their P R was of the best. There was also a full CD of Knez for those collectors who prefer full CD’s to singles.

MALTA
Malta is another country who always rate high and Daniel, the head of press makes sure to interact with the various website reporters.

NORWAY
It is quite difficult for me to really rate the Norwegian P R team because of my close relationship with Morten, president of OGAE Norway, I never have a problem with their promo material, but this year, having written to all 40 heads of press over the handing of the gift bags to the artists, Norway was first to respond.

PORTUGAL
In the middle 2000’s one of the most difficult delegations to deal with but that have really improved and now are among the best.

CZECH REPUBLIC
Having been absent from the contest for some years, I perceived this as one of the most difficult to get the promo CD, but surprisingly, it as fairly easy.

One of the last compilations for Vienna is now finished,NORWEGIAN NOVELTIES. Again Gerry of the USA did a stunning cover design.

EUROVISION MUSICAL IN NORWAY
