Yesterday Cole and I ran into Chris Harper, a South African pianist at the Cresta shopping centre. He was sitting behind his piano in the mall playing amongst others several ABBA songs. Chris has already released at least 4 CD’s with his music and on each of the 4 CD’s you will find an ABBA song. From memory, I recall the following ABBA songs spread over the 4 CD’s
– Mamma mia
– Chiquitita
– Fernando
– I have a dream
– Money money money
– Dancing queen
– Supertrouper
– Hasta manana
– Andante andante
– The name of the game
I suggested to Chris to try and consolidate his Abba covers onto one compilation CD so that ABBA fans, who are into piano music, could get hold of such a CD.
ESC Covers is having a competition where you can win a DVD of Chris which do feature some of the Abba covers by entering our competition. Write to roy@esccovers.com and all you have to do is suggest what EUROVISION song (other than ABBA) he should consider covering on a forthcoming CD. You have about 2-3 weeks to enter seeing that it is now the holiday season.

CHIQUITITA – SONG SEVENTEEN
Chiquitita, tell me the truth, I’m a shoulder you can cry on
Well, CHIQUITIA is a real ABBA classic, both in English and Spanish.
Now who in EUROVISION (artist – male or female) will you want to come and cry on your shoulder, especially after a shock result at Eurovision. I think Kate Ryan will be in many people’s minds but there are others. I still think 2010 is a great example for me, Sieneke not making the final and Didrik Solli doing so badly in front of his home crowd. Both can come and cry on my shoulder. I also want to share another experience from 2010. Morten and me and two other OGAE members had the honour to be in the green room (during that year the green room was not visible to the public). The 4 of us sat there surrounded by four countries – LATVIA, MALTA, FINLAND and SLOVAKIA and believe it or not, none of these 4 made it to the final – what a shock and sadness and seeing the head of delegation of Malta drying Thea Garrett’s tears with the huge Maltese flag is one of those moments burned into my mind forever.
