Rasmussen has won the Melodi Grand Prix with his song Higher Ground and will therefore represent Denmark at the 2018 Eurovision Song Contest in Portugal in May.

The local broadcaster, NRK, in Norway have announced the 10 finalists for the 2018 Melodi Grand Prix. Some familiar names are in the line up including the 2009 Eurovision Song Contest winner for Norway, Alexander Rybak. Also, back is Stella Mwangi (this time as part of a duet) from 2011.
