Franka Batelić to sing ‘Crazy’ for Croatia at the 2018 Eurovision Song Contest

Franka Batelić has been chosen internally by the broadcaster, HRT, and will represent Croatia at the 2018 Eurovision Song Contest. Her song is called Crazy and it was composed by Branimir Mihaljevića and Franka.

Franka actually took part in the Croatian Dora national selection in 2009 with her song Pjesma za kraj and finished in seventh place. She has released two albums and has had several hit singles.

Franka also won Ples sa zvijezdama (Dancing With The Stars) tv show in Croatia in 2009.

Rasmussen to represent Denmark at the 2018 Eurovision Song Contest with ‘Higher Ground’

Rasmussen has won the Melodi Grand Prix with his song Higher Ground and will therefore represent Denmark at the 2018 Eurovision Song Contest in Portugal in May.

SuRie brings a ‘Storm’ to the United Kingdom by winning 2018 Eurovision: You Decide

SuRie has won the 2018 Eurovision: You Decide national selection with Storm and will represent the United Kingdom at the 2018 Eurovision Song Contest in Lisbon, Portugal in May.

The presenters of the show, held at the Brighton Dome where ABBA won the 1974 Eurovision Song Contest, were Mel Giedroyc and the 2015 Eurovision champion from Sweden, Måns  Zelmerlöw.

Måns kicked off the show with the 2017 UK singer, Lucie Jones, and they performed a medley of ABBA hits.

A combination of jury votes by eight music professionals and televoting confirmed Storm will fly the Union Jack in Lisbon. A panel consisting of Rylan Clark-Neal (tv presenter and singer), Rochelle Williams (singer formerly from The Saturdays and tv presenter) and Tom Fletcher (singer formerly of McFly and songwriter) gave their opinions after each performance.

Storm is composed by Nicole Blair, Gil Lewis & Sean Hargreaves.

Zibbz will represent Switzerland at the 2018 Eurovision Song Contest

Zibbz have won the national selection in Switzerland with Stones and will therefore go to Portugal in May to represent their country.

There were six acts in the final –

It’s a sweet ‘Taboo’ for Christabelle as she wins Malta Eurovision Song Contest selection

Christabelle has won the Malta national selection with her song Taboo and will represent them at the 2018 Eurovision Song Contest in Portugal in May.

The 16 finalists were –

Cyprus will be represented by Eleni Foureira at the 2018 Eurovision Song Contest with ‘Fuego’

Eleni Foureira is currently one of the most popular pop stars in Greece and she has been confirmed to represent Cyprus at the 2018 Eurovision Song Contest in Portugal in May.

Eleni will sing Fuego and the song will be revealed in the coming weeks.

Alfred & Amaia will represent Spain at the 2018 Eurovision Song Contest with ‘Tu Canción’

Alfred & Amaia have won the Eurovision selection on Operación Triunfo with their song Tu Canción (Your song) and will represent Spain at the 2018 Eurovision Song Contest in Lisbon, Portugal in May.

Nine songs were performed in the final (5 solo, 3 duets and 1 group song).

There was a super final with the top 3 songs performed again and it turned out like this –

  1. Alfred & Amaia Tu Canción – 43%
  2. AitanaArde – 31%
  3. Aitana & Ana GuerraLo malo – 26%

Ryan O’Shaughnessy will sing ‘Together’ for Ireland at the 2018 Eurovision Song Contest

After speculation of various different acts being linked it has now been confirmed that Ryan O’Shaughnessy will represent Ireland at the 2018 Eurovision Song Contest. His song is called Together and it will be a ballad.

Ryan is a songwriter and had much praise for his audition on Britain’s Got Talent in 2012. He performed his self penned song No Name.

Together will be released shortly but in the meantime check out Ryan’s official video of his song Supermodel.

Mikolas Josef to represent Czech Republic with ‘Lie To Me’ at the 2018 Eurovision Song Contest

Mikolas Josef has been selected to represent Czech Republic at the 2018 Eurovision Song Contest with his funky song Lie To Me.

He was the winner of the overall jury votes in a song and video selection.

Julia Samoylova confirmed to represent Russia at the 2018 Eurovision Song Contest

After much speculation it has finally been confirmed by the broadcaster, Channel One, that Julia Samoylova will represent Russia at the 2018 Eurovision Song Contest in Lisbon, Portugal in May.

In 2017 Julia was not able to represent Russia in Ukraine because of political problems. She had already released her song Flame Is Burning but was unable to take part.

Now Julia will have that chance to represent Russia in Portugal. Her new song will be officially released in the coming weeks.
