Gaia Cauchi will be releasing a brand new single on 2 October entitled Why Should I? It is expected to be an upbeat club pop song with a lot of energy.

Gaia has been working on new music for some time, which she has been involved in the writing and producing herself.

It was in 2013 that Gaia won the Junior Eurovision Song Contest for Malta with The Start. In 2018 she impressed the judges (Simon Cowell, Robbie Williams, Louis Tomlinson and Ayda Field) on the X Factor UK. Robbie admired Gaia’s audition but felt at the time, at 15 years old, she was more suited to a girlband. Gaia was invited to join a specially made up group, Sweet Sense, and went all the way to the judges houses stage.

Gaia is now 16 years old and ready to return with new music. ESC Covers will bring you more about Why Should I? when the track is officially released.

b1 b2

Barbara has been a busy girl with the release of, not one, but two music video clips. She has released a video for her song from the 2018 Makfest, Ne si ti kriv (It’s not your fault). Also, there is a video release for Aleksandar Tarabunov feat. Barbara entitled Izbrisi gi ti solzite (Get rid of them).

Ne si ti kriv is a cool and contemporary track with a strong production. It is composed by Jovan Jovanov and Elvir Mekic with the production and arrangement by Ivan Jovanov Iwayo. The music video was directed by Zoran Zonde Stojanovski.

The duet with Aleksandar Tarabunov, Izbrisi gi ti solzite,  is a beautiful mid-tempo track, where Barbara and Alexsandar’s voices blend perfectly. The lyrics are by Elena Risteska, who represented FYR Macedonia at the 2006 Eurovision Song Contest. The music and production are by Robert Bilbilov and JustRBProduction. The video is directed by Zoran Stojanovski -Zonde.

Barbara Popović represented FYR Macedonia at the 2013 Junior Eurovision Song Contest with Ohrid i Muzika.

Sweet Sense do not make X Factor UK live finals….but the future is bright for Gaia

Sweet Sense {copyright: ITV}

Unfortunately, the made up girl band, Sweet Sense, featuring Gaia Cauchi from Malta, did not make the live shows of the X Factor UK. It appears the chemistry was not quite right within the band but, nevertheless, the girls performed very well in front of mentor, Robbie Williams and guest judge, David Walliams, in the Judges Houses phase. In particular, Gaia’s vocals stood out in the band.

Robbie Williams originally said in the early auditions that he thought Gaia maybe a little young as a solo act and could imagine her in a girl group and joining Sweet Sense was eventually the idea. However, although we do not know what will happen to Sweet Sense yet, Gaia has gained huge experience from this journey. It will surely help her going forward in the music industry. This is just ‘The Start’ (excuse the pun) and Gaia has a big future ahead of her.

Gaia, of course, won the 2013 Junior Eurovision Song Contest for Malta with The Start.

Gaia Cauchi impresses the judges in X Factor UK audition

gaia gaia3 gaia2

Gaia Cauchi impressed all four judges on the X Factor UK with her audition shown on ITV channel at the weekend. She performed Only Love Can Hurt Like This by Paloma Faith and she received very positive feedback from all the judges.

Simon Cowell said “You have a real presence about you, and I really hope you do well” and Robbie Williams was impressed too. His only concern was that Gaia is very young and maybe she would be better suited to be in a band. Anyway, all four judges gave her a very comfortable YES! to go through to the next phase.

I am sure we are all very interested to see what happens next for Gaia.

The brand new season of the X Factor launched yesterday in the United Kingdom. Eagle eyed viewers may have spotted Gaia Cauchi briefly in one of the camera shots.

I wonder what we can expect. Would Gaia have auditioned? If so, how would she do? Will she impress the judges including newcomers Robbie Williams,  Ayda Field (Robbie’s wife), Louis Tomlinson (from One Direction) and of course Simon Cowell?

It will be interesting to see what happens over the coming weeks.

We at ESC Covers will certainly be monitoring the X Factor tv show to see if Gaia will be featured and, hopefully, impress the judges.

Gaia won the 2013 Junior Eurovision Song Contest for Malta in 2013 with The Start. Let us hope whatever she is doing now it is The Start of an incredible journey for her.

Check out the clip below where you can see Gaia very briefly.
