POSITION 30 IN THE 2023 EUROVISION – GREECE

Morten Thomassen from Norway started reported on the final positions of the 37 entries in the 2023 Eurovision song contest. ESC Covers google translated it from Norwegian to English.

This is a blog entry and represents only writer Morten Thomassen’s own views.

This year’s youngest participant came from Greece, his name was Victor Vernicos, he omitted Jørgensen in his stage name and the song he sang was called “What They Say”.

Whether it was the fact that they made such a big success last year with a half-Scandinavian artist that it exactly happened again is unknown, but this year it should turn out that things didn’t quite go their way.

Victor only managed to get 14 points and he should be happy that his best friend in the ESC contest Cyprus was in the same semi-final, they gave him a generous 12 points and thus pushed him up a place on the results list.

Greece also made the “mistake” of sending a song that probably had much more impact with a jury than it did with the people, but in their defense it must be said that exactly that is not always easy to understand.

There is little doubt that young people here, Jørgensen, are talented, but every now and then someone gets to show off their talent without it being developed to a sufficient degree.

What happens on stage is, even if he tries his best to bring out some kind of energy, really tame and quite bland and it doesn’t help that he almost desperately tries to stir up the audience in the hall to help create some energy .

The fact that the vocals are weak, unsteady and not quite where they should be does not make matters better and this becomes a bit of the youth’s cultural patterning over, the stately thing about it is that you dare to perform and not necessarily the quality of the performance.

I will give this country a plus in the margin for great visual effects, at least someone has realized that this is a televised competition.

I have a feeling that our Greek friends will probably let the youth down next year and invest in someone with a little more experience.
