It was announced today that Les McKeown of the Bay City Rollers has passed away suddenly at his home in Scotland

Leslie Richard McKeown (12 November 1955-20 April 2021) was a Scottish pop singer who was the lead singer of the Bay City Rollers during their most successful period.

Les McKeown was born to Irish parents in Edinburgh. He joined the Bay City Rollers in late 1973, leaving by mutual agreement in 1978. In 2015 he re-joined the group for a series of reunion shows.

He died at his home on 20 April 2021, aged 65. The cause of death is not yet known.

In 1990 Les McKeown came 4th in the UK national final with the song Ball And Chain.
