Živilė Gedvilaitė will sing Lioness in the Pabandom iš Naujo! 2022 national selection in Lithuania. She has spoke to ESC Covers –
1. Congratulations on making it to the Eurovision selection. Could you tell us something about your song?
The song ‘Lioness’ (by Ylva & Linda Persson, Charlie Mason, John Matthews, Paulius Jasiūnas) is about a strong-solid woman and leader who doesn’t give up even in the most difficult moments of her life.
2. Could you tell us something about your singing career so far?
I’m singing since I was three years old. I am graduated from music school, Šiauliai Conservatory/college bachelor’s and master’s studies. To get all that took me over 16 years . I’m a music vocal teacher methodist and I have been doing pedagogical work for over 15 years now. I have songs but they didn’t become hits no matter how unfortunate it would be I create lyrics more often than music. It’s easier to create songs for kids that’s what I do. I have published a methodological book for future music teachers on methods shaping voice quality.
3. Who are your musical influences?
My idols are Whitney Houston, Celine Dion, Helene Fischer, Mariah Carey, Beyonce and I could still list a lot more. As far as Lithuanian stars are concerned, I must definitely mention Rosita Čivilytė, Rūta Ščiogolevaitė, Donatas Montvydas and I will not expand too much again
4. Do you have a favourite Eurovision song?
For my personal opinion of course, the most memorable Eurovision performances were by Loreen with ‘Euphoria’ and Jamala with ‘1944’.
5. What would it mean to you to represent your country at Eurovision?
Well, I don’t even think about representing my country in the Eurovision Song Contest, because I leave this opportunity to Lithuanian stars. Because I’m only known to the Lithuanian audience from different projects. Well. but as they say, never say never But if I’ll manage somehow to achieve it I think it would be an indescribable experience for me.
