Cyprus will be represented by George Michaelides at the 2016 Junior Eurovision Song Contest with his upbeat Dance Floor. Let us look back at Cyprus at Junior Eurovision over the years.
The first entry for Cyprus at Junior Eurovision was right at the beginning in 2003 with Theodora Rafti and Mia efhi (A wish). In 2005 they withdrew from the competition after picking the song Tsirko by Rena Kiriakidi. It was said it sounded too much like another song.
The best position for Cyprus has been eighth. This has been achieved twice. First in 2004 with Marios Tofi and his song Onira and then Louis Panagiotou & Christina Christofi in 2006 with Agoria koritsia (Boys Girls).
After 2009 they took a break and returned in 2014 with ESC Covers’ favourite entry. It was by Sophia Patsalides with her song I pio omorfi mera (The most wonderful day).
