COUNTDOWN OF EUROVISION 2024 RESULTS – POSITION 8

ESC Covers start the Eurovision 2024 countdown from position 37 to the top place. We are using the review of Morten Thomassen from Norway. ESC Covers google translated it from Norwegian to English.

This is a blog entry and represents only writer Morten Thomassen’s own views.

It’s always nice when things happen for the first time and for our Armenian friends in the group Ladaniva, they were the first Armenian submissions in Armenian only to make it to the finals and when they got there they actually took this country’s top 10 ranking number 8 and that again means that this country has 50% of its submitted entries in the top 10, certainly something to brag about.

That this country’s biggest ESC hit is the song that did the worst in the final shows that it is not always the position that counts for further success, however this was the second time they performed a duet and both times they ended up in a good position .

In their semi-final Jaklin and Louis as they are called finished in a great third place so it is clear that the audience liked what they heard and saw, in the final it is a little surprising therefore that they got the most points from the juries, namely 101 points while the people thought they deserved 82 points, in other words not much disagreement between the two jury groups.

You might want to put the Armenian contribution in the world music box, a type of music that draws its impulses from several places in the world and thus should have the opportunity to score points from many sides, and it probably did then as well and what we saw on stage was just as festive as their song is.

Here there is full focus on the camera almost all the time and thus they sell themselves to the audience watching and perhaps not as much to those in the audience, the singing is good and they manage to keep up the energy in the song in what is happening on stage, even if it gets a bit messy at times for my taste.

But, with a charming performance you can get very far and this time and this time fairly far up the results list and once again next year’s Armenian artist will have some big shoes to fill, but they are good at it so they will probably do it again then.
