COUNTDOWN OF EUROVISION 2024 RESULTS – POSITION 7

ESC Covers start the Eurovision 2024 countdown from position 37 to the top place. We are using the review of Morten Thomassen from Norway. ESC Covers google translated it from Norwegian to English.

This is a blog entry and represents only writer Morten Thomassen’s own views.

Usually it is our Italian friends who manage to climb the highest on the results list of the so-called big 5, this year they had to see sell beaten by neighboring France and the 7th place Angelina Mango got is actually their worst position since 2016 so there is little doubt that they is quite spoiled with good placements, but it’s not very strange since they choose artists and songs from the top shelf, it can seem like almost every year.

The genius move they make in this country is that the San Remo festival, where the songs are taken from, is not a selection for ESC, but only an Italian competition and it is only when you have won that you are asked if you can think of another trip ESC as an extra prize, that’s why this country has probably never sent what many would call a typical ESC song, but instead something that is 100% Italian through and through.

Not unexpectedly, it was also with the juries that this country got the most points, 164 points to be exact, while the people thought that 104 points could hold for a song, which, being Italian, was quite bouncy and danceable.

The performance literally oozes Latin female toughness and attitude and Angelina has great and good help from her female dancers who show that they too, like most women, can have bodies that may not always fit into the supermodel mold.

This together with the slightly devilish vocals makes me fall for the song and what happens on stage and it all feels like someone real and not some kind of play to fit in with the song’s message and it doesn’t hurt that the lady has tons of charm loaded too, then most things will be the same.

And there is every reason to believe that next year too, our Italian friends will send something that will bite in the neighboring country of Switzerland, rarely do our Italian friends have a short journey to the ESC.
