Ever since Roy of ESCCovers followed Eurovision from 1980 onwards, he was always able to find his favourite of the year either on a vinyl single (1980 to 1993) or on a CD single (1995 to 2017). Then came 2018 and his favourite was HIGHER GROUND of RASMUSSEN from Denmark but since there was no promo single, he decided then his favourite will be his number 2, MY LUCKY DAY from Moldova as he got that on a promo CD single. But now he has had HIGHER GROUND designed as a unique one only promo single by Stephan Herholdt and so Higher ground can again be officially his top song for 2018. He only made contact this week with Jonas Rasmussen and it is a pity – had he known him earlier, he would have had another copy made for him.
Several countries did not release promo singles in Lisbon this year (about 10 countries) while another 4 or so only had USB sticks. ESC Covers like to display physically promo singles as we have the only Eurovision library in South Africa. So, like in 2017, we had called on Stephan Herholdt to design promo covers for the missing ones and we will now start to display them. The first one is NORWAY 2018 – Alexander Rybak with his song THAT’S HOW YOU WRITE A SONG
The 6th and last in our promo single comparison between those received in Kyiv and those designed in Johannesburg. It is IMRI from Israel and his song I FEEL ALIVE.
The 5th promo single in our series of 6 is from the 2017 ROMANIA. It is called YODEL IT and is sung by Ilinca & Alex Florea. This song was quite a surprise.
The 4th promo single in our series of 6 is from the 2017 Moldova entry HEY MAMMA by SUNSTROKE PROJECT. Euro fans, who were on the weekend’s cruise between Helsinki and Tallinn, would have seem them perform.
And now we move to the 3rd of the 6 in the series of promo singles – showing you the Kyiv one and the Johannesburg one. This time we looking at France and their 2017 entry REQUIEM by Alma.
The second post of 6 over 2017 promo singles – comparing those obtained in Kyiv to those designed in Johannesburg. Here is SWEDEN and their song I CAN’T GO ON by Robin Bengtsson.
For six posts we will compare the promo singles obtained in Kyiv to the ones we made in Johannesburg and see which ones look the nicest. First up is the promo single of FINLAND – Blackbird by Norma John.
The second promo single with a different design – this time from ESTONIA. It is their 2002 entry RUNAWAY by SAHLENE. The first is the promo single we got at EUROVISION and it contains 5 tracks. The second is the one we got last week in Oslo and has just 2 tracks – this is probably the commercial single sold in Sweden.
While in Oslo, Norway, ESCCovers got several interesting Eurovision items. Over the next days we will highlight some of them, starting with the entry from Norway in 1999 LIVING MY LIFE WITHOUT YOU by VAN EIJK. The first picture is the promo single we got in 1999 and the second one is another single of the entry which was obtained in Oslo and now comes to the collection as well
