TRONDHEIM chosen for Norwegian Eurovision 2020 final

ESC Covers got this news from ESC Norge a week or so ago but was told to keep it a secret until NRK announced the news today.

For the first time since 1989, a city other than Oslo will host the Norwegian finals. In early October, the brand new Trondheim Spectrum was opened. It is Europe’s largest multi-use arena. On February 15 2020, it will host a magnificent MGP final, which will also be a major celebration of MGP’s 60th anniversary.

It has become a habit for many to celebrate the Melodi Grand Prix in the Oslo Spectrum. The first time the Norwegian finals departed from here was as early as 1992. And since then, with few exceptions in the late nineties, it has always been at the Oslo Spectrum.

So maybe it was time for another city to get the pleasure of getting this “circus” to town.

Trondheim Spectrum has room for more audience members than Oslo Spectrum, and is a super modern arena. This is one of the reasons why the arena has been chosen. As far as we know, there is room for around 12,000 people in the arena. However, due to heavy stage rigs, NRK estimates that there will be about 8,000 audience members.

Ticket sales officially start Thursday, November 14, and the day before for dedicated fans.
