COMPETITION – ALEXANDER RYBAK

Collectors of the Eurovision entries on CD will know that Norway did not have a CD single of their 2018 entry THAT’S HOW YOU WRITE A SONG by Alexander Rybak. In order for ESC Covers to be able to display each and every item, we got Stephan Herholdt to design a promo single for this song. There are just 4 copies of it available and 2 of them ESC Covers have made available to be WON by either Eurovision fans or Alexander fans.

This is how it will work:
ONE copy for a fan from NORWAY
Norwegian fans who want to take part, has to be a member of OGAE NORWAY. We will check it with the president of OGAE Norway. You also have to answer a question – how many points did That’s how you write a song got in its semi-final in Lisbon.
ONE copy for a fan from any other country but NORWAY
Fans from the rest of the planet (beside Norway) do not have to be a fan of any OGAE club, just a fan of either Eurovision or Alexander. Your question is as follows: Did That’s how you write a song compete in semi final 1 or semi final 2 in Lisbon.

People who want to enter can do it in one of three different ways:
1 – give your answer  on the facebook – EUROVISION COVERAGE
2 – do it here on the ESC COVERS website and leave your answer as a comment
3 – write your answer in an e-mail to roelofv0@absamail.co.za

You have until Friday 12 November to enter the competition – it will close at midnight Central European time.
The two winners will be announced on both the facebook and the website.
Due to postal problems from SOUTH AFRICA, the CD’s will only be posted out end of November when Roy, the owner of ESC Covers, is in Minsk, Belarus for Junior Eurovision.

COMPETITION TIME – MALTA

Today is the 4th and last of our ESCCovers competitions. We just filled a gap between the voting shock/surprises which took a short break but will be back from tomorrow. Today’s competition is about Malta and hopefully you are not Breathless by now and have time to enter it.

You can win a memory stick which features the video of Claudia Faniello’s Breathlessly.

Again to win this, do the following:
1 – Like the Eurovision coverage facebook
2 – Name one of the songs Claudia had in the Malta selection previously.

All entries will again be put into a hat and a winner drawn and then he or she will have to send us their postal address.

The winners to the 4 competitions will be announced this coming weekend.

COMPETITION TIME – SWEDEN

To win this, you have to do the following:

1 – go and like the Eurovision coverage facebook

2 – write to us at roy@esccovers.com and mention the name of Robin’s song from the 2016 Swedish selection

All entries will again be put into a hat and one will be drawn. That person will be asked to send us his/her postal address for the bag.

COMPETITION TIME – SPAIN

Today we will introduce the second ESCCovers competition, this time heading to SPAIN.

Someone wrote that “Never before the I  Latino community has turned on Spain this way”.

For us in South Africa it is a little hard to understand why the Eurovision fans (especially the Spanish speaking ones) have such a universal hate for this song. Yes it is no master piece but there has been far worst songs in Eurovision over the years.

We have a copy of the promo single of Manel Navarro’s DO IT FOR YOUR LOVER to win (hopefully there is someone who wants to win it).

This is what you have to do.

1 – Like the post on the Eurovision coverage facebook

2 – Write to roy@esccovers.com an e-mail and explain to us why this song provoked such hate

All entries will be put in a hat and one will be drawn as winner. That person will then be asked to send us his/her postal address.

COMPETITION TIME – GREECE

Eurovision 2017 is over and we are now in the off season but at ESCCovers we pride ourselves that we try to make Eurovision an all year round activity and try to publish at least one item a day.

Once a week, for the rest of the month, we will have a competition where someone can win a Eurovision item. Today is the first of this – it is about GREECE.

In Kyiv ESCCovers got a Demy t-shirt. It is a MEDIUM size.

So one person/fan could win this. This is what you have to do

1 – Go to the Eurovision coverage facebook and like the post

2 – Write to roy@esccovers and mention your most loved Greek entry of all time and your most hated Greek entry of all time

All entries will be put into a hat and one name pulled out and that person will win the t-shirt. We then will ask the winner to supply us with his/her postal address.

COMPETITION – GREECE AND CYPRUS

1-hovig1

In Kyiv, ESC covers will be represented by Ian Fowell, our chief editor as well as Roy van der Merwe, the website owner. Roy will, however, also cover the 2017 Eurovision song contest on behalf of the Greek language radio station in South Africa, RADIO HELLENIC and because of that, we are doing a competition involving the entries of Greece and Cyprus.

The competition is fairly easy. This is what you have to do:

1 – Pick Cyprus or Greece (the entry you like best of the two)

2 – Put a photo of yourself inside the flag of the country you picked (so Greece of Cyprus) OR

Put a photo of Hovig or Demy inside the flag OF YOUR country.

3 – Send this to us at roy@esccovers.com and we will publish it on the ESC COVERS website OR

put it yourself on the EUROVISION COVERAGE facebook

4 – By 30 APRIL a panel of judges will pick 1 or 2 winning entries and these people will win a gift package from Radio Hellenic and ESC Covers.

COMPETITION SIX

Finally the last competition

This is where you have to predict which country will win the 2017 Eurovision song contest. In order for transparency, you will have to publish the name of your winning country here on the website or the Eurovision coverage  facebook so that all know what you have predicted.

As there potentially could be several with the correct answer, we want to add something extra. So tell us more or less how many points this country will get, be it 300 or 344 or whatever. In case of more than one person having the same country, the winner will be the one who predicted the points the closest to what actually happens on the night.

This is a long term competition and you can continue with this until 9 am CET of the Saturday of the live final broadcast.

COMPETITION FIVE

This is where you have to predict which 10 countries will qualify from semi final 2 to the final in Kyiv. You list the 10 countries you think will qualify. In order for transparency, you will have to publish your 10 countries here on the website or on our Eurovision coverage facebook so that all know what you have predicted.

Obviously the winner will be the person who predicted the most correct – hopefully all 10, but should nobody have 10 correct, we go down to 9 and then 8. In case more than 1 person are correct, the winner will be drawn by lottery.

This is a long term competition and you can continue with this until 9 am CET of the Thursday of the live semi final 2 broadcast.
