As reported here last week the Ukraine selection process for Junior Eurovision 2020 is now underway and several artists have already submitted, and had their songs released on the official YouTube Channel.
4 artist have had their songs released and you can listen to each below.
Maria Tkachuk who also entered last years Ukraine selection is back to try again with her song ‘встигнемо все!’ (Time for everything!)
Maria Danilova will be hoping to make it to the final with her song “Сяйво” (Shine)
The third hopeful is Karina Zayets with her song “жива” (Alive)

Kazakhstan has announced the selection procedure for Junior Eurovision 2020 which will see them will revert to public vote and a televised National live final.
Following the initial application stage, a jury will select 30 participants who will be whittled down to a final 12 by an online public vote on the Khabar TV website.
The live national final will take place on Sep 26th, though at this time; according to the organisers ‘the format and venue of the final depends on the epidemiological situation’

2020 be the third time Kazakhstan has competed at Junior Eurovision having made its debut in 2018 with Daneliya Tuleshova and finishing in 2nd spot in 2019 with Yerzhan Maksim.

Ukraine public broadcaster has revealed the process for selection of their Junior Eurovision participant for 2020 in Warsaw, Poland
In a change to previous years, it was announced ‘For the first time, the Public is expanding opportunities and changing the selection conditions so that talented children can enter an international competition, even if they do not have their own song. The selection of the representative of Ukraine for the Junior Song Contest “Eurovision-2020” will take place online, and everyone will be able to vote for their favorite.’
In early September, the finalists will be announced and as in previous years the public will be able to view and vote for their favourite songs and artist.
The winner will be announced on 12th September after consideration of the public vote by the Internal jury.

Despite confirming in January that the country would be participate in this years contest, TG4 have now announced that Ireland will sadly be withdrawing from Junior Eurovision 2020.
The uncertain travel situation due to Covid 19 was cited as the reason for the withdrawal along with the hope that Ireland would return in 2021.
After the release of the 4 songs competing to represent Netherlands at this years Junior Eurovision in Warsaw in November, some controversy surrounding the T Square entry ‘Count on Me’ has emerged.
Several fans noted in comments that the track sounded very much like Korean band BTS ‘Boy with luv’, some even claiming plagiarism.
The organisers have since issued a release stating ‘we’ve decided to investigate the matter’ so expect more news in the coming days/weeks.

In other related news, today saw the release of the shows common song which will be performed by all 10 of the competing artists – ‘All we need is music’
Junior song festival Netherlands have revealed the songs in the running to represent the country at this years Junior Eurovision Song contest, due to take place in Warsaw, Poland in November.
The Dutch ‘Junior Song Festival 2020’ will take place at the Ahoy arena on Sep 26th, most likely without an audience in attendance.
The 4 artists and songs competing will be:
Thijs, Teddy, Thimo and Tyrone – T-SQUARE – ‘Count on me’
Further to the recent announcement that the final of the Netherlands Junior Eurovision selection show ‘Junior Song Festival 2020’ would be held at the Ahoy arena in Rotterdam; the names of the songs that each artist will be perform , have now also been released.

Boy band T- Square (Thimo, Tyrone, Teddy and Thijs) will perform ‘Count On Me
Jackie And Janae’s song is appropriately titled ‘It’s You And Me’
and young female solo singer Robin will perform ‘May (Along)’

After many years of speculation and in a surprise move, Germany has announced it will make its debut at this years Junior Eurovision show in Warsaw.
The show will be broadcast on the KIKA network; a dedicated children’s channel, in collaboration with NDR AND ZDF.
Levent Geiger, a finalist in last year’s Dein Song (Your Song); a long running children’s talent show, will compose the German entry. He will also be involved in the casting, and will accompany the young performer on every step along the way to the big night in Warsaw.
From August, the KIKA show ‘Kika Live’ will show regular updates on preparations for the contest.

In a surprise announcement earlier today, it was revealed that the Netherlands Junior Eurovision selection show ‘Songfestival 2020’ will be held at the Rotterdam Ahoy arena.

Details are still unclear as to whether an audience in the huge 16,500 capacity venue will be allowed to attend or what measures will be in place if they are.
The Arena was of course set to host Eurovision 2020; before it’s cancellation and is due to host Eurovision 2021, so perhaps the ‘Songfestival 2020’ will serve as a test event for how social distancing measure could be implemented if they are still required for the main Eurovision show in 2021.

Georgia 1TV today announced that the Junior Eurovision selection show ‘Ranina’ will be returning to screens in the near future.
After initially announcing the artists taking part and a start date of late March, the show was put on hold as the Covid 19 pandemic locked down the country.
We look forward to Georgia once again kicking off the Junior Eurovision selection season when the show restarts in the coming weeks.
