Belarus’ Eurovision broadcaster BTRC has been expelled from the European Broadcasting Union. This rules out a Belarusian participation in Italy 2022 and makes Belarus’ return to the Eurovision Song contest and the Junior Eurovision Song contest extremely unlikely.
Let’s take a look at what Belarus has brought to the Eurovision Song Contest since 2004.
For the national final for the Eurovision Song contest 2015 BTRC received 110 entries of which a jury of experts selected 15 finalists. The Belarusian national final took place on 26 December 2014.
A combination of votes from seven jury members made up of music professionals (7/8) and a public telephone vote (1/8) selected the song Time performed by Uzari & Maimuna as the winner. The song was written by Uzari, Gerylana and Maimuna.
At the ESC Belarus failed to qualify to the final, it was later revealed that Belarus had placed twelfth, receiving a total of 39 points.
