Belarusian broadcaster BTRC has been suspended by the EBU and therefore Belarus is not allowed to participate in Eurovision events. Let’s take a look at what Belarus has brought to the Eurovision Song Contest since 2004.
The Belarussian national final for the Eurovision Song contest 2005 took place at the BTRC TV Studios in Minsk on 25 December 2004. The winner was selected over two rounds of voting. In the first round, the top three entries were selected by a public televote to proceed to the second round. In the second round, a professional jury selected the song Boys and Girls performed by Angelica Agurbash as the winner of the competition. Before the finalization of the entry, Angelica decided that Boys and Girls would most likely not fare too well at Eurovision so she turned to alternatives. Israeli performer Svika Pick offered the song Show Me Your Love, while Nikos Terzis and Nektarios Tyrakis offered Love Me Tonight. Love Me Tonight was selected by Angelica, which officially replaced Boys and Girls as the Belarusian entry. Because Belarus failed to qualify in 2004, Angelica had to compete in the Eurovision semi-final. She came 13th with 67 points, failing to qualify for the Grand Final.
