So I want to go to our Lithuanian friends who have proven once and for all that singing in Lithuanian is not a nightmare, for the second time this decade they came 14th in the final and this year it was Silvester Belt who was responsible for it the feat.
Silvestras Belte as his real name actually got points from all countries in his semi-final and in the final he perhaps had a better hold on the people than on the jury, almost twice as many points he got from them compared to what the juries thought he deserved.
Silvester had a perhaps somewhat thankless task of performing his song after Israel, which we remember did not get the very best reception from parts of the audience in the hall, but he managed to fire up the audience again with his banger of a song that got many in the audience up to speed dance feet again.
A bit cool danceable pop, I guess I would call this and I think that the whole performance has a bit of a cold machine-like feel to it which fits like a glove right here and in all this he actually manages to appear charming as well, an ever so small twist bag that here also in other words.
Vocally, I think this is also within range, so the fact that this song didn’t do better is probably mainly due to the fact that there were perhaps a bit too many young men fighting for the same points, and then probably young people here Belt got their deserved share of them.
This country feels like it has found a musical direction that captivates enough to take them to the final and who knows as the only Baltic country that hasn’t won, maybe it should be your turn.
