The Mello tour continues unabated around Sweden and one can state that there is every reason to envy the Swedes the commitment they have to this competition, but there is just as much reason to be musically engaged I think.
Melody 1 – Maria Sur –
The song starts weak vocally, but eventually manages to pick up in that area and the whole song probably manages to pick up like that throughout the songs. There is a development in the song that I can like, but feel that the great height you expect to come does not quite appear. It will be a bit tiring energy here that I can spare myself. And as I said, a little better vocals could lift this song a lot
Melody 2 – Engmann’s Chapel –
Mello has become a bit predictable, there are a number of different musical expressions that somehow have to get at least one representative and now we are served happy country in Swedish. It’s sung well, because this is the guy who performs quite often, I think, and not just on such a stage. The song is festive enough, but here I feel that this is something that I have heard before, so the degree of originality is not particularly high here, no.
Melody 3 – Dear Sara –
We calm down musically, and I actually find this quite attractive musically. The vocals are perfectly fine and it’s the melancholic undertones that I’m caught by here. I could have imagined that a little more happened on stage, the artist can’t quite own the stage alone, but it’s nice to see that the wind machine is on this tour. Never a year without it.
Melody 4 – C-Joe –
Then we go to colorful music with intense and happy rhythms and I let myself be charmed by both the guy who sings and the intense show he serves us. Vocally, it’s borderline at times, but when it’s music like this, it’s liveable, even if someone should perhaps have been in a little better shape for such a performance. And then you can tick in the form that music with an African touch has been performed here in Mello. As I said, this is becoming a bit predictable.
Melody 5 – Liamoo –
Sometimes you just realize that you’re going to hear a song that can quickly turn out to have something great about it. And this young fellow does not disappoint my expectations here. Great vocals on a dramatic and melancholic song that oozes strength and authenticity in what happens on stage. Almost getting a bit on fire here granted, here we are possibly talking about a song that can win the whole thing.
Melody 6 – Miss Filthy –
Wearing a mask is obviously a thing for some artists, looks a bit out of place for me then, but that’s up to them. Maybe the vocals would have been a little better without the mask, because vocally it’s tiring to listen to. The show is a bit of dance band goes pink shock, and the melody is probably something that the 90s probably wouldn’t want back if we wanted to give it to them. Festive, but not annoyingly original musically though.
Not surprisingly, Liamoo and Maria Sur went on, that’s fine, and Dear Sara and Fröken Snusk get a second chance, that’s fine too, I’d say.
