NORWEGIAN 2023 EUROVISION SELECTION – FREYA – MARIA CELIN

Due to internet problems yesterday, we can publish this only now. Morten Thomassen discussed the chances of the 7th song in semi final 3 of the Norwegian Eurovision selection. ESC Covers google translated it from Norwegian to English.

We’re going to a song that has already become a big fan-favorite and then I guess I should, by all accounts, like it too, I’m an MGP fan.

But, occasionally some MGP songs are just a little bit too formulaic for the fact that the song is supposed to be in MGP and then the song loses a bit of its charm for me.

In other words, there is nothing wrong with the song “Freya”, which is therefore about a Viking goddess and not a certain walrus.

The song is tough, strong and powerful and requires an artist who can make it work vocally on stage, and that the strengths of the song come out in the performance.

For me, Maria Celin is a new artist and it’s always exciting if she has all the qualities you need for a song like this to shine on an MGP stage.

Once again, I trust that NRK has done the quality check and that many fans can thus be very happy to vote this song through to the final next weekend.

The gods must know that she will probably have to live with what is possibly the biggest favorite stamp in this dolphin final.
