NORWEGIAN 2023 EUROVISION SELECTION – SOMEDAY – STIG VAN EIJK

Morten Thomassen discussed now the chances of STIG VAN EIJK in the 2023 Norwegian Eurovision selection. ESC Covers google translated it from Norwegian to English.

Our last ESC participant of the 20th century has finally decided that he wants to try again in our beloved competition.

He does that equally well with something called reggaeton, it’s reggae mixed with Latin American rhythms, so it really swings.

Unge van Eijk claims that this is the first reggae song in MGP, but he is wrong there, Kari Bremnes and the group Stiftelsen were actually first out in 1982.

But, I would now like to claim that Stig with the song “Someday” is closer to the roots of this form of music then.

After a calm start to the song, we are sent at express speed to Jamaica and, if you didn’t know better, you would have thought that Bob Marley had been resurrected.

There is still a Berger with Colombian ancestry who sings and I love music that sounds as authentic as this.

Counts that tons of stage experience will shine through when Stig van Eijk takes the stage and I would assume that someone will be dancing in this number.

Unfortunately, as we saw last weekend, the Norwegian people haven’t quite got the feel for such exotic songs yet, and that’s probably the biggest reason why I don’t have absolute faith that this one will be able to make it to the final, but I’ll be super happy if it does happens.
