WHY DID ELINE THORP ENDED IN 6TH PLACE?

Today Morten Thomassen discusses the placement of Eline Thorp at the 2023 Norwegian Eurovision final. ESC Covers google translate it from Norwegian to English.

One of the best ways to cure a phobia or fear is actually to plunge straight into it and just stand there and you have to be able to say that Eline Thorp has shown that this is a treatment method that works.

After having an 8-year break in her artistry due to stage fright, I think most people feel that she is more than a welcome back.

And it must feel wonderful to sing for over 8,000 people in the hall and around 1 million behind the TV camera and make such a good performance.

I would call the song “Not Meant To Be” perhaps the most modern and up-to-date song of the 9 entries we saw in this year’s MGP final.

Then it is perhaps a little surprising and disturbing that this particular song was the least liked by the people when it came to voting.

It was the jury that gave her 5th place, of which one jury had her right at the top, which meant that Eline Thorp eventually ended up in 6th place.

I find very little to complain about in this performance, the singing is good, we get a performance that I feel suits this artist like a glove.

I understand that those expecting more action on stage probably felt that what we got to see was a bit stagnant and it is probably also possible that many found this song musically rather stagnant despite the fact that it was quite rhythmic.

Well, you can’t please everyone, but if this brought the artist Eline Thorp back where she belongs, that’s victory enough for me and probably her too.
