ESC Covers would like to give a special mention to the dancers of Dawnswyr Anti Karen who will join Erin Mai on the stage at the 2019 Junior Eurovision Song Contest for Wales and the song Calon yn Curo.

Three of the girls were performing with Manw at the 2018 Junior Eurovision Song Contest. The girls who will be on the stage in 2019 are Sian, Nel, Gwen and Cadi.

We wish the Wales team lots of good luck. They are doing a great job.

ESC Covers meets Erin Mai from Wales at Junior Eurovision

Erin Mai will represent Wales at the 2019 Junior Eurovision Song Contest with her song Calon yn Curo .  Together with Radio International, ESC Covers met up with Erin at the delegations hotel in Katowice, Poland.

Erin was very relaxed and charming and fun to talk to. She advised she is enjoying the experience of representing her country and meeting many new friends.

Her mentor at the Chwilio am Seren national selection, Tara Bethan, has advised Erin to enjoy it and relax by doing yoga before the show.

Tara advised she enjoyed doing the music video shoot that was shot in her home town in Wales.

Tara also has experience of the famous local national festival in Wales, Eisteddford. This year the show was held in Erin’s home village.

Wales: Erin Mai releases official video clip of ‘Calon yn Curo’

Erin Mai was recently selected to represent Wales at the 2019 Junior Eurovision Song Contest after winning the ‘Chwilio am Seren’ national selection show. Now the official music video has been released for Calon yn Curo (Heart Beating).

Calon yn Curo is composed by Sylvia Strand, Jonathan Gregory and Ed Holden.

Erin Mai is 13 years old and is from Llanrwst in North Wales.

Wales selects Erin for Junior Eurovision

Chwilio am Seren (Search for a Star), Wales Junior Eurovision selection show came to a conclusion tonight with the national final taking place at the Venue Cymru in Llandudno,

Seven acts made it through from the semi final last week and with Mackenzie & Rhiannon being teamed up by the judges to perform as a duo; for the first part of the show, each of the six acts performed a song chosen by themselves and their mentor:

Sophie – “Cae o yd”
Mackenzie & Rhiannon – “Nythod cacwyn””
Carys – “Croeswn ddyfroedd geirwon”
Y Minis – “Hedfan uwch na’r ser”
Cerys – “Meddwl amdanaf fi”
Erin – “Nos Da Susanna”

Following a vote from the 5 regional Welsh juries, the field was narrowed down to a final three.

Mackenzie & Rhiannon, Cerys and Erin each performed their own version of “Calon yn Curo” the song which will represent Wales in Poland and after the public vote Erin was crowned the Winner and will represent Wales in Gliwice, Poland.

Lily Mai Duncan impresses in the Welsh Factor

Lily Mai Duncan impressed many with her performances in the 2018 Chwilio am Seren national selection for Junior Eurovision in Wales. Lily is now participating in the Welsh Factor competition and is establishing more respect and admiration for her powerful vocals.

Welsh Factor is an established competition and is organised by the GTMP Entertainment Group, and they have a good history of training and mentoring artists for the future.

You will see below Lily performing She Used To Be Mine by Sara Bareilles which she sings beautifully.

Also below you can see Lily sing Berta (the song that eventually became Perta and was performed by Manw at the 2018 Junior Eurovision) in the final of the 2018 Chwilio am Seren.

Wales: Manw Robin to appear in National Eisteddfod stage

Manw Robin will appear in the National Eisteddfod stage in Wales in a special production of an original show about local folk tales and fairies featuring lots of songs and acrobatics. It is a contemporary musical circus show.

The brand new show, Y Tylwyth, is by Myrddin ap Dafydd, Gwyneth Glyn and Twm Morys. The production also features the Fidget Feet Aerial Dance Theatre and the Pontio Bangor and Irish Contemporary Circus troupe from Ireland.

Original songs in the show are composed by Gwyneth Glyn and Twm Morys. The songs have a folk edge.

Y Tylwyth will take place in  Llanrwst in the Conwy Valley of Wales on 2 and 3 August. More information can be seen at this link https://www.facebook.com/events/1334483360061744/

Manw represented Wales at the 2018 Junior Eurovision Song Contest with the beautiful Perta.

Former Junior Eurovision national finalists Gracie-Jayne and Erik shine on The Voice Kids UK

Two former Junior Eurovision national selection finalists made memorable appearances on The Voice Kids UK this weekend.

Gracie-Jayne took part in the 2018 Chwilio am Seren selection in Wales and impressed many with her performances including an amazing Welsh language version of You’re My World my Cilla Black. In The Voice Kids, Gracie-Jayne sang Golden Slumbers, a song by the Beatles, but more well known recently by Jennifer Hudson from the ‘Sing’ movie soundtrack. Three of the judges turned their chairs for Gracie-Jayne’s performance. Gracie-Jayne chose Pixie Lott to be her mentor going forward in the competition.

Erik Antonyan participated in the 2018 Depi Mankakan Evratesil national selection in Armenia, Ari Pari. Erik is now living in London in England. In The Voice Kids, Erik gave a rousing performance of Saturday Night by Whigfield and the got the audience enthusiastic and dancing and they gave him a lot of applause. Unfortunately, none of the judges turned around but they gave Erik a lot of praise and said he has a big future.

Wales: SIORT ORA (with Manw) wins Battle of the Bands schools competition

After representing Wales at the 2018 Junior Eurovision Song Contest, Manw has taken on a new project with a group of school friends. Their band SIORT ORA (meaning best sort or great mate) won a Battle of the Bands competition singing in the Welsh language for the island of Anglesey schools.

Manw said she is really enjoying being in a band and harmonising with her band mate, Louise. SIORT ORA only got together about two weeks ago. They have won a nice shield trophy and a cash prize of £500 sterling. They also have the opportunity to record at a local studio in Wales. The band will also play at two festivals.me

SIORT ORA now plan to record some songs (both original and covers) in Welsh.

Manw sang Perta for Wales in Minsk back in November 2018 and won a lot of respect for her performance and appearance with her dancers from Dawnswyr Anti Karen.

Manw gives impressive 2nd rehearsal at the 2018 Junior Eurovision

Manw will represent Wales for the first time at the 2018 Junior Eurovision Song Contest on Sunday with the charming Perta.

Today she gave her second rehearsal with her team of dancers. It looked beautiful on the screen and on the stage. The show begins with a close up of Manw and the girl dancers. Then the performance flows beautifully with lovely choreography and a background of mountains and birds.

Manw looked very relaxed at the press conference. She is looking forward to being on the stage and she will give 100% and is proud to be the first Welsh representative. She also explained that she will continue to sing and would like to act. She enjoys drama at school. Manw also love to ski.

Manw took part in the famous national Eisteddfod festival in Wales at jut 4 years old. his gave her a taste for the stage.

A special mention to the dancers with Manw from the Dawnswyr Anti KarenSian, Nel, Neli, Gwen. The do a great job.
