To kick off the first of our Halloween-themed week of Eurovision songs, we’re heading over to Finland… Can you guess who it is from their creepy costume?

Clue 1: She was born on 2 May 1987

Clue 2: She finished as the runner-up in the thirteenth series of The X Factor UK

Clue 3: Her voice has been used on a number of Finnish dubbed movies, including Alice in Wonderland, Brave, and Frozen.

Danica Muscat recently covered the Finland 2018 Eurovision song, Monsters, by Saara Aalto. Danica performed the song on the popular Maltese entertainment show, Arani Issa.

Danica is an established and respected singer and vocal coach in Malta. She has participated in the Malta Song For Europe national selection and had success in several festivals at home and abroad including Konkors Kanzunetta Indipendenza and the Rzeszów Carpathia Festival in Poland.

Danica was in Poland in 2019 as she is the vocal coach of the Malta participant at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest, Eliana Gomez Blanco.

Saara Aalto releases new music video for ‘Dance Like Nobody’s Watching’

Saara Aalto has released a brand new music video for her song Dance Like Nobody’s Watching. The track is lifted from her internationally successful album ‘Wild Wild Wonderland’.

Dance Like Nobody’s Watching is composed by Saara with David Sneddon and Tom Fuller.

Saara is currently competing in the popular UK tv show Dancing On Ice. Infact, her dance partner, Hamish Gaman, appears in the new video.

Saara Aalto performs an impressive show in London

Saara Aalto gave a pre-Eurovision concert at the Under The Bridge venue in London on Wednesday. She gave a confident and impressive performance of tracks from her album released today ‘Wild Wild Wonderland’ as well as providing some surprises.

ESC Covers was there to cover the event. Saara performed her three songs from the 2018 UMK Finland national selection – Queens, Domino and of course Monsters. She also performed her runner up song from the 2015 UMK No Fear. Saara also sang some Eurovision classics such as Diva and Rise Like A Phoenix.

Saara was joined by some special guests. First up were YouTube sensations 96OneDream. Ari Ólafsson (2018 ESC Iceland) joined her on stage to perform Con Te PartiroRyan O’Shaughnessy (2018 ESC Ireland) joined Saara for a version of the 1994 Irish winning Eurovision song Rock ‘N’ Roll Kids. Matt Terry (the winner of the 2016 X Factor in UK where Saara was runner up) performed Calm After The Storm (2014 ESC The Netherlands).

Saara Aalto will sing ‘Monsters’ for Finland at the 2018 Eurovision Song Contest

Saara Aalto performed three songs in the 2018 Uuden Musiikin Kilpailu (UMK) national selection and the song that came out on top with the juries and the public was Monsters!

The three songs in the selection were –

  • Monsters
  • Domino
  • Queens

Monsters is composed by Saara Aalto, Joy Deb, Linnea Deb, Ki Fitzgerald. Joy and Linnea wrote the winning song for Sweden, Heroes, for Måns  Zelmerlöw at the 2015 Eurovision Song Contest.

The interval act was Melanie C from the Spice Girls and she performed her solo worldwide hit and UK number one from 2001 I Turn To You.

Saara has participated twice before in the Finnish national selections and in 2016 she went all the way to the final of the UK X Factor.
