O. TORVALD – DES’ NE TUT
O. TORVALD, who represented UKRAINE at the Eurovision Song Contest on home soil in Kyiv 2017, jas a new member (female) and a new song and video. It is called Desʹ ne tut.
MARYNA at SPRING FESTIVAL
9 September is a spring festival at St. Ursula’s school in Krugersdorp with a variety of artists performing there. It is sort of a charity event. The reason why we are writing about it, is because one of the artists is MARYNA (Booysen) a 20 year old singer who is currently busy doing two Eurovision covers and hopefully she will be able to perform them for the first time at this spring festival. The two songs are the 2016 entry from Macedonia – DONA of Kaliopi and the 2017 entry from Ukraine – TIME of O.Torvald. Both will be in Afrikaans. Maryna has already recorded another Kaliopi song, her 2012 song but Maryna sings this in English as Black and white. Hopefully lots of people will attend this festival.
PROMO SINGLE – UKRAINE
Usually the host country put extra effort in to give the press a nice promo single of their entry (Belgrade 2008, Finland 2007, Norway 2010, Sweden 2013, etc) but according to our knowledge Ukraine became the first host country not to hand out a promo item for their entry TIME. So of course ESC Covers got a promo single designed for the library and it is so beautiful – the cover it like 100 better than the song.

O. Torvald played the only rock song in this year’s Eurovision.

It’s ‘Time’ for O.Torvald as they represent Ukraine at the 2017 Eurovision Song Contest
O.Torvald won the Ukrainian national selection and will take to the Eurovision stage in May for the home country with their song Time. The rock band actually drew with Tayanna but because they had the most ‘public’ votes they won the battle. I wonder if TVE and Spain were watching how this was done!!

Ukraine 2017: Participant profile – O. Torvald
O.Torvald are a Ukrainian rock-band, who have songs in Russian and Ukrainian languages. The band was created in 2005 in Poltava. In 2006 the musicians moved to Kiev.
In 2008 they created their debut album. In 2011 the second album ‘O tobi’ (About you) appeared. In 2012 the guys created 2 new albums – ‘Acoustic'” and ‘Primat’ (Primacy). The 5th album ‘Ti ye’ (You are) appeared in 2014, the 6th ‘Nashi lyudi vstudi’ (Our people are everywhere) – in 2016.
The band O.Torvald consists of Evgeniy Galich (vocal, guitar); Denis Mizyuk (guitar), Nikolay Raida (DJ, piano), Alexander Soloha (drums) and Nikita Vasilyev (bass-guitar).
In the third semifinal of the Ukrainian national selection, which was on the 18 February, the band took the first place with seven points from jury and seven points from televoting.
In the final their number is #3. Their song is called Time.
