Ida Andia of Romania is looking at the big 5 and their chances in the Grand final of the Eurovision 2019 song contest.
Maybe Michael Rice has a voice BIGGER THAN ours but the song is not great. The chorus of Bigger than us is strong, but I think that the country will be on the right side in the Grand Final. It is not my cup of tea.
Michael Rice has won the Eurovision: You Decide competition and will represent United Kingdom at the 2019 Eurovision Song Contest in Israel with his song Bigger Than Us.
ESC Covers was at the event held in Manchester. As we arrived there were some Palestinian protestors outside the tv studios.
The show proved to be very entertaining. It was hosted by Måns Zelmerlöw and Mel Giedroyc. There was a medley of some successful United Kingdom songs by Måns with some help from The Fizz (1981 UK ESC winners) and Katrina (1997 UK ESC winner). Netta was also on hand to perform her winning song, Toy, for Israel in 2018.
There were three songs and six artists. Each song was sung twice by two different acts in a different style. The panel of judges (Rylan Clark-Neal, Mollie King and Marvin Humes) selected the three acts to go forward to final where the public would have the final say of who goes to Tel Aviv to represent the United Kingdom.
The songs –
Sweet Lies – Kerrie-Anne did an uptempo dance/soul version. Anisa did a very soulful ballad version. Kerrie-Anne was voted through to the final.
Freaks – Jordan Clarke did a very catchy pop version. The girl group MAID did a slightly quirky beat version. Jordan Clarke was voted through to the final.
Bigger Than Us – Holly Tandy performed a country/pop upbeat version. Michael Rice did a power ballad version. Michael Rice went to the final.
After the televoting it was declared that Michael Rice would fly the UK flag in Israel in May. Bigger Than Us is composed by Laurell Barker, Anna-Klara Folin, John Lundvik and Jonas Thander.
