WINNER OF THE BARBARA DEX AWARD 2021
The Barbara Dex Award is named after Barbara Dex, who represented Belgium at the 1993 Eurovision Song Contest with Iemand als jij. Her self-created dress has put name to this award that has been handed out every year since 1997 – with 2020 as an exception of course due to the contest being cancelled and nobody appeared on the stage.

Slavko Kalezić from Montenegro is this year’s winner of the Barbara Dex Award. The singer got the most votes. The prize is awarded each year to the worst dressed artist at the Eurovision Song Contest. Triana Park from Latvia and Martina Bárta from Czech Republic came in second and third place. The Belgian website songfestival.be hands out the award this year and received thousands of votes.
Slavko didn’t win the 62th Eurovision Song Contest with his song Space, but he still gets to take home a prize. The singer gets an award for his rather remarkable outfit, one we will probably not be seeing on the red carpet anytime soon … The men’s high-knot pony tail helped to get a lot of votes.
Latvia and Czech Republic came in second and third place. According to the voters, these artists were dressed the worst on stage during the Eurovision Song Contest 2017.

The Eurovision Song Contest 2017 has come to an end. We’ve seen a lot of remarkable outfits. But which dress, costume or pantsuit was the absolute worst? You can now start voting for the Barbara Dex Award, a prize for the worst dressed Eurovision artist, by the Belgian website Songfestival.be.
Last year Nina Kraljić from Croatia won the price for her rather remarkable dress. The time has come to select her successor. You can start voting from now until Sunday May 21, 12 AM CET.
A new home
The award is handed out by the Belgian website Songfestival.be, who took over from the Dutch founders Rob and Edwin (House of Eurovision). The voting procedure got a make-over. For all 42 contestants there is a photo included of their outfit.
‘We are extremely proud and excited to organize this award. We hope to get a lot of votes, more than ever before. And of course we hope Barbara Dex herself will vote too’, says Jasper Van Biesen, one of the founders of Songfestival.be.
