SOWA is a top Ukrainian singer and expert on Eurovision. In a special podcast she gave her opinions for her Top 5 songs for ESC 2024.
According to the singer, this is a very interesting combination of such artists as Alyona Alyona & Jerry Heil.
“It’s very cool that the artists have united in a duet with a common goal and will represent our country on the European stage. The images of the girls at Eurovision excite me. It is such a combination of contrasts, from which the image of feminine strength and power radiates through their images, the performance of the number and the song itself. In my opinion, a lot depends on the performance of the number. And this year, it is handled by Tanya Muinho, a Ukrainian director who collaborates with the world’s most famous artists and has two nominations for the Grammy Award. I think it’s just a top. Moreover, it is an indicator of how talented our Ukrainians are. Imagine the scope of their creativity. This is exactly the moment when you see the rehearsal and understand that we should not worry about a successful number. I believe that the girls will be able to impress with their performance at the Eurovision Song Contest, make Europe fall in love with Ukrainian music and expand it even more”.
SAWA’s Top 5 of this year’s participants whose performances affected the most.
“Of course, Alyona Alyona & Jerry Heil with “Teresa & Maria” defines my main favorite this year. However, in addition to Ukraine, other participants who left an impression on my heart include:
1. Czech Republic – Aiko “Pedestal”: Their rebelliousness in defiance can capture my soul. I love that.
2.Ireland – Bambie Thug “Doomsday Blue”: I love the aesthetic of Tim Burton’s work, so this is one of the reasons why such a mystical work did not leave me indifferent.
3. Australia – Electric Fields “One milkali”: I remember this singer for her vocals, and the song for her melody. The lyrical track that I remember the most, among others.
4. Georgia – Nutsa Buzaladze “Firefighter”: Their fiery energy and national flavor filled my heart.
5. Israel – Eden Golan “Hurricane”: I was most fascinated by the singer’s vocals and melodic moves.
The lyrical track that I remember the most among others.
In my opinion, Ukrainian music and performers are gradually receiving more and more attention and recognition from the world audience. In recent years, the Ukrainian music scene has attracted considerable attention due to its uniqueness, originality and variety of genres. Performers from Ukraine represent a wide range of musical trends — from ethnic motifs to modern electronic and pop rhythms.
In general, the world perceives Ukrainian music as something original, emotional and impressive. It is becoming more and more recognizable and interesting for an international audience”.
