Ida Andia today looks at the song from Georgia and their chances to advance to the final in Tel Aviv.
I have to be honest. When I listened to this song for the first time, I thought it is the weakest entry of this year. I have been patient to listen to it again and to look for the lyrics. The inhabitants of this Caucasian country can be proud of this song. It’s in Georgian. The lyrics are extremely beautiful. ”Varada varada” is a common Georgian folklore refrain; ”chonguri” – a Georgian instrument. So from hate I came to love for ”Sul Tsin Iare” (”Go Ahead”), performed by Oto Nemsadze. Unfortunately, I don’t think it will qualify. The main reason is that the majority of people who will watch the semi-final will not understand the message.
