ROXETTE FROM SWEDEN GOING ON TOUR AGAIN

On 2 May 2024, Per Gessle announced the live reformation of Roxette. With Lena Philipsson taking over on lead vocals from Marie Fredriksson, who died on 9 December 2019, at the age of 61, the band will tour Australia and South Africa from February 2025.
Lena Philipsson and Per Gessle have worked together before, he wrote the song Kärleken Är Evig for Lena Philipsson which came 2nd in Melodifestivalen 1986.
Lena also represented Sweden at the 2004 Eurovision song contest in Istanbul with IT HURTS.

The announcement of Roxette’s South African tour dates comes almost five years after the passing of Marie Fredriksson, the beloved co-founder of the band, who succumbed to cancer. While Marie’s absence is deeply felt, Per is determined to honour her memory by keeping the Roxette legacy alive through live performances of their timeless songs.

Speaking about the tour, Per expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to share Roxette’s music with fans once again.

This is all about my Roxette songs, this huge bundle of music and lyrics I’ve been writing for well over three decades. Marie will always be irreplaceable, but I’m really lucky to have found an amazing voice and a brilliant performer in Lena Philipsson.

Lena, who will join Per and the Roxette band on stage, shared her excitement about the upcoming tour.

I’m both excited and thrilled about embarking on this tour. I really look forward to working with Per – he is a phenomenal songwriter and a never-ending musical force.

The Roxette band line-up will include Christoffer Lundquist, Magnus Börjeson, Magnus ‘Norpan’ Eriksson, Dea Norberg, as well as original Roxette icons Clarence Öfwerman and Jonas Isacsson. Together, they will deliver a high-energy performance that pays homage to Roxette’s legacy while introducing new audiences to their timeless music.
