Morten Thomassen looked again at another candidate in the Norwegian second semi final, this time ELSIE BAY. ESC Covers google translated it from Norwegian to English.
For some, MGP is almost like a kind of viral disease, once you are bitten by the bacillus you are unable to stay away when the “disease” comes for its annual visit.
This week’s registered infection victim is Elsie Bay, who came in fourth place last year, a piece of information we probably didn’t learn until this year’s artist launch.
Elsa Søllesvik, as her real name is, has really done her job as a composer this year, as last year, since this year she is also involved in two of the songs on the composer side.
And just like last year, she chooses to perform some of the songs herself, doubting whether she would have been allowed to compete against herself as an artist.
“Love You In A Dream” is called songs and we move into ballad-land with a song that has so many subtleties in it that it immediately makes it more interesting.
Personally, I’m a bit bothered by the fact that the chorus is very similar to a song I’ve heard, but I can’t for the life of me remember where I got that particular melody line from.
However, many of today’s pop songs are similar to some you’ve heard before, so I choose not to spend a single calorie on this one.
For me, the song has the uniqueness that I look for in new songs and that gives me a good experience as a music lover.
This is brought out by Elsie Bay and I hope that this will also come out in the performance on Saturday, then a lot should have been done to get a Trondheim trip on the first weekend in February.
