MONEY MONEY MONEY – SONG TWENTY

All the things I could do, if I had a little money

Another song by ABBA with repeat words. So this time we look at WHAT YOU WOULD DO IF YOU HAVE A LITTLE MONEY – and we narrow the field down to say what you have to spend in on Eurovision.

I would use that money to pay the participating fee of Croatia so they could join Eurovision.

  1. I’d spend a little money on getting Liechtenstein to enter the competition for the first time. They have always thought about it but their budget never allows for it. I’d help them out and see their debut in this wonderful competition!

  2. If I had a little money….. I’d use it to give everybody an even keel when it comes to participation costs. We know that the big 5 pay a more hefty sum for their contributions and a rewarded with a grand final placing. Well with my ingenious idea everyone would pay the same leaving anyone the ability to afford joining us, and will give the current big 5, a better chance at winning, and hopefully entice them to send us better entrants (I’m looking at you United kingdom) 😉

  3. I’d spend that little money to help the fans in the poorer countries to join the party in the recent venue/city.

  4. I’m thinking that Luxembourg would b a great return to the Eurovision family as they have been winners before and this would share the love, building bridges and feel the heartbeat…

  5. If I had a little money I would…

Create a training school allowing selected Eurovision fans from all over the world to participate in the event. Different departments would give trainees the opportunity to gain new skills in dancing, singing, lighting, staging etc. Scrap the limit on the amount of people on stage and allow the performers to participate in various countries entries.

Then after the initial events stage a world tour, visiting the countries where the trainees are from. The trainees would be able to showcase their new skills to their friends, families and the world.

  6. I really want a strong Balkan presence at Eurovision so I would use the money to pay for Croatia’s Bosnia & Herzegovina and Bulgaria’s participation.

  7. I would give it to SVT so that they can give us the best Eurovision show ever and not worry too much about the cost of hosting it.

  8. I would probably use it to bribe juries to vote for my favorites…so it’s probably better that I don’t have any!

  9. I would like to use the money to get all European countries to participate, it is Eurovision after all. From the other groups I participate in, that is largely their wish. I would also establish an Oceana- American – Asian song contest which would then choose a winner who could participate at Eurovision at their invitation or participate in a contest with the top ten of Eurovision. I think that would be a much fairer solution than haven one random non European country participating. The second part may more difficult to pull off due to time differences, so maybe each region should select a winner who could then sing off in a world vision song contest finals.

  10. If money was really no object, then I would pay whatever to re-form Agentha Frida Bjorn & Benny Abba to sing one last reprise of Waterloo’ in their original costumes especially for Eurovision Song Contest 2016 in Stockholm city. I would certainly be a huge boost for Eurovision brand.

It would be a classic Tv moment, and well worth the cost

    1. Maybe STV will get an ABBA format to put on the customs and do WATERLOO during 2016? I am sure there are tons of ABBA look-a-likes in swedish to hire for this?

  11. I would so hop a flight to Sweden! Selfish, I know… I’d love to finance the smaller countries that find it too hard to participate but I’m not sure I could do more than make a drop in the bucket. But after years of watching ESC on VHS weeks late, then DVDs, and now online, it would be a kick to see just one Eurovision live in person. I also happen to be in my fourth year of studying Swedish so the convergence is serendipitous!

  12. If I had money I would try and get all countries that took part in the past but now not anymore (such as Luxembourg, Monacco, Andorra, etc.) and pay their participation fees. In this way, the contest would get bigger, we would have more singers, more songs and a bigger and a better show with lots more to enjoy. Imagine more than 45 contries taking part every year. It would be really AMAZING!

    1. When LUXEMBOURG was on high I was cross that they did so well year after year but now I miss songs from there

  13. I would figure out a way to promote Eurovision in the USA, so at least one network considered airing it and we could start building a following here. Eurovision is such a huge highlight of my year, I want my fellow countrymen to experience it as well.

  14. I would spend it on upgrading the servers that stream the show to those countries that can’t watch it on television so we don’t miss any of the show due to dropped connections.

  15. With some stupid money I would try and buy a seat in the booth with Graham Norton during the televised shows. I would even fix his cocktails for him. That would be probably be the funniest week of my life.

  16. Definitely split the money. First, to buy network time to broadcast the show in the U.S.
Second, to encourage Luxembourg to re-enter the contest with the hopes of another Papa Pingouin type song!

  17. So many people are offering to finance participation costs for specific countries (mine would be Slovakia).

But really, why is my ancestral poor country more deserving of any of the others? Depending on what a “little” money is, I’d like to finance participation for all of the non-Big5 countries. Wouldn’t it be great, if for just one year *EVERY* eligible country was able to compete?!

    1. Michael one of my top dreams is to see 50 countries in EUROVISION before I die, but i wonder if that ever will happen?

  18. If I had a little money….or a lot…..I would have Eurovision concert worldwide tour that travels to many of the ROW countries so that everyone had a better chance to see the artists without travel being an issue. It could be a constant traveling show like a circus and the artists could be ever changing.

  19. With just a bit of money I’d drag Australia closer to Europe (just like shown on the SBS ads earlier this year) so we could go to Eurovision a lot more often!

  20. Money, money, money, there is so much to do … everyone above have such great suggestions, looking after all the smaller or less economically capable countries to enable greater participation would be great. But what else, perhaps ensuring that wherever it is held has the capacity to seat even more people instead of missing out on tickets because the venues simply can’t cope.

  21. I would use the money to:
    – Have the Big 5 in the Semifinals.
    – Have the complete voting
    – Have the previous winner always opening the Final with his/her winning song
    – Guarantee the best hosts
