Roberta Popa will take part in the Selecţia Naţională 2022 in Romania with the song, Indigo (Ylva & Linda Persson, Peter Frodin).

Roberta speaks to ESC Covers –

1. Congratulations on making it to the Eurovision selection. Could you tell us something about your song?

Thank you very much! In my opinion “Indigo” is a really sentimental song. For me, it represents all the feelings a man can feel and live. It makes me very happy and it made me realise how many emotions I can feel and how diverse I am.

2. Could you tell us something about your singing career so far?

I have been singing since I was 8 years old and I have participated in many festivals and competitions here in Romania, but also in Russia and Serbia. I have won several awards, many of them being the contest’s Trophy. I have also participated in numerous shows in cities like Brasov, Baia Mare, Pitesti and Constanta. I have not released any single yet.

3. Who are your musical influences?

My biggest musical influence are BTS. They made me love what I am doing. Other artists that influenced me are Lisa (Blackpink) and Hwasa (Mamamoo).

4. Do you have a favourite Eurovision song?

My favourite Eurovision song is “Fairytale” by Alexander Rybak.

5. What would it mean to you to represent your country at Eurovision?

Representing my country at Eurovision would be a dream came true. I would live what I have always dreamt of and I would be proud of myself for working hard enough to get there. I would be so thankful for everything and everyone that helped me and supported me.
