Iceland held the first of 2016 Söngvakeppnin national selection semi-finals last night. Six acts performed and three progressed to the final.
The six acts and songs and composers were –
- Greta Salóme – Raddirnar (Greta Salóme Stefánsdóttir)
- Hjörtur Traustason & Erna Hrönn Ólafsdóttir – Hugur minn er (Þórunn Erna Clausen)
- Ingólfur Þórarinsson – Fátækur námsmaður (Ingólfur Þórarinsson)
- Band Eva – Ég sé þig (Sigríður Eir Zophoniasardóttir & Jóhanna Vala Höskuldsdóttir)
- Karlotta Sigurðardóttir – Óstöðvandi (Kristinn Sigurpáll Sturluson, Ylva Persson, Linda Persson & Karlotta Sigurðardóttir)
- Sigga Eyrún – Kreisí (Karl Olgeirsson & Sigríður Eyrún Friðriksdóttir)
The results were decided by televoting and three acts went forward to the final. The three acts that did not make it have a chance still through the wildcard entry.
The three acts progressing to the final are –
- Greta Salóme
- Karlotta Sigurðardóttir
- Hjörtur Traustason & Erna Hrönn Ólafsdóttir
