SWEDEN has won the 2023 Eurovision song contest and will host in 2024. That co-inside with the 50th anniversary of them winning in 1974 with ABBA.

For the next 50 days ESC Covers will post one song a day which is a Swedish song, either an actual entry, a selection song, or a song by a Eurovision artist covered in South Arica, either in Afrikaans or English.

Song 13 is SE PA MIG by JAN JOHANSEN. This song represented Sweden at the 1995 Eurovision song contest. 1995 was my first year with press accreditation and Jan was the first of that year’s artists I met. I love his song and on my return home, it was the first song  I pitched to artists to cover.

GUILLAUME WILLEMSE recorded it in English as ANOTHER NIGHT and it became a hit. KURT DARREN also covered it in English and it became an even bigger hit. JAYCEE CRAUSE also covered it in English.

Later two Afrikaans covers were done. STEVEN STERLING recorded it as DIS NOU OF NOOIT and DOMINEC recorded it as ONE LAASSTE NAG.
