CAXTON RADIO SHOWS FOR TEL AVIV

ESC Covers is doing a RADIO SHOW called FROM NORTH TO SOUTH, reporting on the HISTORY of the Eurovision song contest with the on line radio station CAXTON RADIO based in South Africa.

Roy van der Merwe (Johannesburg, South Africa) and Katja Black (Amsterdam, the Netherlands) are the two people recapping some of the highlights and low lights from Eurovision – this is aimed mainly at the SOUTH AFRICAN audience who are largely unfamiliar with the Eurovision song contest that started in 1956 and now will have its 64th event in Tel Aviv in May 2019.

Originally they have planned on just 5 30 minute episodes but due to the long running of Eurovision, they are now at 1980 after 3 episodes so it may probably be 8 to 10 episodes.

Roy will be in Tel Aviv for 15 days and some shows will be done from there which will mostly be asking comments and predictions.

The original idea was to do 41 short shows, of 5 minutes where each episode will handle over the entry of one of the 1 countries in Tel Aviv.

With Roy being technically quite backward, the original plan has changed. The 41 episodes will still be done but all prior to TEL AVIV so all 41 will be available from day one when Eurovision starts. This will mean the 41 episodes will be slightly different.

41 Eurovision fans will still be involved in each episode but in a slightly different way.

You have two ways to do it.

WAY ONE

You record your episode of maximum 2 minutes like you would do a good luck message. Once you have recorded it, you will send it to KATJA as by e-mail as a sound file and she will add the song of that country and package it for the radio station. You do it as follows:

HELLO THERE MY NAME IS XXX

I AM FROM XXX (your country)

I am introducing to you the 2019 song of XXX (country) which is XXX (name of the song) by XXX (name of artist)

But before we listen to the 2019, I want to mention that the following 3 songs from this country were special to me over their participating in Eurovision so far:

SONG ONE and artist and year it was an entry

SONG TWO and artist and year it was an entry

SONG THREE and artist and year it was an entry

Now I do hope that XXX (the 2019) will do well in Tel Aviv

MORE OR LESS that.

We will supply the e-mail address of Katja soon.

WAY TWO

It is exactly the same, just if you cannot record it yourself, you send the info to Katja and she talks on behalf of you. So she will say

Hello there. On behalf of XXX  (name) from XXX (country), I am reporting this. And then what you have send.

The way I wanted to do would have been too much work for Katja as she would have to be available for 41 people to record their little bit and she has her own job and life and has to do this in her off time. Also you are over several times zones and logistically just a nightmare in all.

Of course we  hope most of you are technically more equipped than me to record it on a phone or something and send it.

You have until around 1 APRIL to do it.
