While the London and Amsterdam pre-parties have not taken a decision yet, the MADRID pre party was cancelled or postponed. This is what they released.
The Eurovision 2020 preview party due to take place in Madrid on 10 and 11 April has been postponed. The decision taken by Eurovision-Spain is as a result of the global Corona virus pandemic.
Confirmed on Twitter
As confirmed on Twitter by the official account of Eurovision-Spain and PrePartyES, the announcement (translated to English) is as follows:
Eurovision-Spain has postponed the #PrePartyES20. The Eurovision concert in Spain had confirmed the presence of 17 representatives from Eurovision 2020 and 11 additional special guests. Eurovision-Spain has taken this decision as a responsibility to the artists, fans and our team.
It seems during next week they will report how people can get a refund of their tickets.
We can now look at what the Amsterdam pre-party posted.
Eurovision in Concert closely follows the developments concerning the Coron avirus / COVID-19. On this matter we will follow the recommendations of the RIVM (the National Institute for Public Health) and the municipality of Amsterdam. These authorities indicate that there is as yet no reason to avoid or cancel events. If this situation changes, we will of course report this as soon as possible.
With the corona virus on everybody’s lips, it seems more events will CLOSE UP and OPEN UP. The pre parties for Eurovision every year prior to the actual Eurovision is being looked at carefully. This is what the London event posted
As the COVID-19/corona virus situation evolves, the health and safety of our team, delegations and customers is paramount.
We are working with the venue and following closely all advice from the UK Government, the World Health Organisation and Public Health England.
As the situation here in the UK is very fluid and changing daily, we would ask for your patience at this time. We are currently reviewing our options and all information available to us but are not in a position yet to release any further information regarding the event. Additionally, we have decided not to release any further tickets for sale tomorrow morning as planned.
Thank you for your patience, understanding and continued support.
After a few quiet days, we are back to our series of questions without right or wrong answers. Pre-parties are special annual preview events held in various countries once the songs and artists of each year’s Eurovision Song Contest are confirmed. This is often done in conjunction with the various branches of the OGAE network and other sponsors. It is an opportunity for fans to meet their favorite artists and watch them perform their entries in a live, intimate setting. Is this a good thing or a bad thing? And is there too many or would you even want a few more like bringing the artists almost at your doorstep?
