Jana Mirković will soon take to the stage to represent Montenegro in the 2015 Junior Eurovision Song Contest in Bulgaria with her song Oluja. Jana speaks here to ESCCovers.com.
Hello Jana. Congratulations on being selected to represent Montenegro at the 2015 Junior Eurovision Song Contest. Could you tell us how you got involved with Junior Eurovision this year? Was there an audition?
Thank you so much! RTCG invited me to represent Montenegro in Junior Eurovision and I accepted it, of course. This is a great opportunity for me and a chance to show my country to new, younger generations.
What are you looking forward to most about taking part at the Junior Eurovision in Sofia?
It is a new experience. That first step on the Junior Eurovision stage and sharing the energy with the audience. I always dreamed about performing in front of many people, especially in this event where I have the honour to represent my country and share something with youth who are the next generations. So, a memory for a lifetime is what I am looking forward to. Meeting other contestants, fans, people who love Eurovision and who allow music to unite us all.
Could you tell us about your song ‘Oluja’ and what it is about?
It’s funny for me that before we released the song, people thought it’s a ballad because of the name., which means The Storm. But we made a fast pop song. Mirsad Serhatlic composed it, Boban Novovic and I did the lyrics, and Vladimir Graic Graja produced the song. Oluja is about me actually. Speaks about love between two people, we played a bit with words. It’s a catchy song, with the message that young person always brings strength and energy like storm.
Can you tell us anything about the video?
We filmed the video a couple weeks ago in Montenegro. It was little bit intense because it was rainy and bad weather for a few weeks and we really needed to be sunny, since we had outdoor scenes to film. But luckily, everything turned out to be good. The filming was in Budva (coastal town) and Njegusi (village of Petrovic dynasty) and we wanted to put traditional and modern of Montenegro in this video.
Have you released any previous singles and videos?
I have been into music and TV scene for a few years now. I was at many international music festivals: in Russia, Italy, Serbia, Croatia, Bulgaria… I have released two music albums and recorded few music videos. JESC is the biggest project I had and with it I want to mark my children’s career.
Who are your musical influences?
I love Jennifer Lopez and Barbara Streisand. Lately I am listening to some Swedish artist, like Mans Zemerlow, the winner of ESC in Vienna, and Loreen, Zara Larsson, Mohombi…
We wish you lots of good luck, Jana, and hope you enjoy yourself in Sofia
Thank you so much. See you soon J
