ABBA has been in the music business for 50 years. To celebrate that happy event, INFE Ireland and INFE South Africa are hosting the ABBA TOP 50 from Monday September 20 to Tuesday November 9. We’ll be posting what we think are the 50 best ABBA songs in alphabetical order. Enjoy!
ESC Covers also add a cover to each ABBA song. However in the case of today’s song, the ABBA version is technically the cover and the Svenne & Lotta version the original.
THE 4th ABBA SONG IN OUR LIST IS:
Bang-A-Boomerang, a song submitted to the 1975 Melodifestivalen, written by Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus. Since ABBA themselves did not want to compete in the contest again, they instead gave the song to Svenne & Lotta. The song finished third in Melodifestivalen 1975. ABBA then released the English-language version of the song as a track for their ABBA album and later also released it as a single in France with SOS as B-side, where it was a minor hit.
