Because I have time today, I will also introduce our third competition. This is open to EACH AND EVERY EUROVISION fan, not just R O W members.
The competition is about DANKIE VIR DIE WOORDE (thank you for the words). It is an AFRIKAANS cover of the ABBA song THANK YOU FOR THE MUSIC. Nedine Blom, a South African singer and also R O W member wrote the lyrics and recorded it as a tribute to ABBA and the museum. There are only a few copies, of which one will go to the museum, one of obviously for me, and then a few to be won by fans. You will have to comment on this post as follows: over the years many Eurovision entries consisted of just ONE word, several winners like WATERLOO and HEROES. Now you have to think about your most loved ONE WORD title of a Eurovision entry and give a short reason why you like that one word. Winners will be announced before Stockholm and if the winners are there, they will get it there, others will be posted.
Easy. Diva!!!
Easy Diva! It was the very first time entry from ESC i heard and since that moment l felt in love with the contest
I could mention a tons of the songs, but actually I say PIONEER.
There are many reasons why I put it here:
1) This is the first song of my country which I can 100% support from the very beginning: fitting to my taste of music, I love the lyrics and I’m sure that it fits perfectly to Eurovision.
2) Additionally, I feel myself like a pioneer by building up in Hungary a very new thing from nothing.
3) In my childhood, I worked at Children’s Railway which was called Pioneer’s Railway before 1990, so I have many great memories related to the word Pioneer (but independent from the ideology behind that system)
I’d have to say ‘siren’ it’s mysterious, different and could have a number of meanings. Imagine all the different metaphors you can use for it!
So many options!
Satellite springs instantly to mind!
I love the many meanings behind the word! Such as, we are all satellites orbiting each other, even when far apart, our worlds are never out of reach.
Fairytale the winner from Alexander Rybak. (2009)
I recall just how this fiddler charmed everybody with a runaway victory in Norsk Melodi Grand Prix, it seemed like a perfect tune for Eurovision. The song had great staging and a wonderful dancing troup, but for me the magic was with the story of Ryak’s tune it was all about his first love. A young female fiddler like himself however they fell out and the relationship was over. While Rybak never fell out of love with her, and searched to find his first love again without any success. It was a true love story and the young girl of the song’s subject was actually revealed & interviewed by the norwegian newspapers at one stage (terribly)
More than anything else I think Fairytale’ is the one Eurovision entry that told the best romantic story…abit like the ‘Love Actually’ movie in one song!
