First semi-final in Ukraine: Three acts progress to final

Ukraine are back for the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest. Last night the first semi-final was held with nine acts performing and three progressing to the final.

The nine acts taking part were –

  1. Anastasia Prykhodko – I am Free Now
  2. The Hardkiss – Helpless
  3. Tonya Matvienko – Tin Whistle
  4. Vladislav Kurasov – I’m Insane
  5. Låvika – Hold Me
  6. Jamala – 1944
  7. Aida Nikolajchuk – Inner Power
  8. Svitlana Tarabarova – Never Again
  9. Brunettes Shoot Blondes – Every Monday

Anastasia Prykhodko represented Russia at the 2009 Eurovision Song Contest with Mamo. The results were decided by a combination of expert jury and televoting. The jury were Konstantin Meladze (producer and composer), Ruslana (winner of the 2004 Eurovision Song Contest for Ukraine) and Andrdei Danilko (also known as Verka Seduchka – 2007 ESC Ukraine).

The three acts that qualified for the final were –

  • The Hardkiss
  • Jamala
  • Brunettes Shoot Blondes

    1. Roy, at the Show one of the jury members, Konstantin Meladze told him that he’s not ready for Eurovision and must find his own music.

      But i watched the hole Show of 6 hours and half and the Ukrainian ticket for Eurovision is between Jamala and The Hardkiss due their performance, but Jamala should win this after she was being robbed in 2011.
