ESC COVERS want to wish German composer RALPH SIEGEL a happy birthday today.

It is no secret that ESC COVERS rate RALPH SIEGEL highly in terms of EUROVISION related people. He composed some great entries for various Eurovision countries over the years, including one winner, the 1982 entry EIN BISSCHEN FRIEDEN by NICOLE.

Around 100 of his songs have been covered in  South Africa – most of them in Afrikaans but also some in English. EIN BISSCHEN FRIEDEN has been covered by at least 15 South African artists, several of them becoming top sellers.

ESC COVERS have a box set of RALPH SIEGEL with 14 CD’s and one DVD. It is near impossible to pick just one song to highlight today but as we remembered a sad occasion 2 days ago with 25 years since GE KORSTEN took his own life, we pick the song DER PAPA WIRD’S SCHON RICHTEN by PETER ALEXANDER which Ge covered in Afrikaans.
