Time to go  to a country that has to give a big thank you to its neighbors for making it to the final at all, our Serbian friend TEYA DORA came 10th in her semi-final and had the not too big sum of 6 points down to the country that came second, but as you know, there are many good neighbors in our beloved competition.

With this in mind, the placement in the final must have come as a pleasant surprise, because even if one could actually think that this year’s Serbian song could possibly have been a little more jury food than phone voting food, it should turn out that the opposite became a fact and once again must a big thank you goes out to nice neighbours, it’s still a small feat to get that high when you’ve only just made it to the final.

It’s never going to be a proper ESC without at least one Balkan ballad, that kind of music is part of the cake recipe for a perfect ESC cake and this year our Serbian friends took responsibility, although without quite capturing too many people with their song .

What happens on stage is basically quite nice and cheesy and there is also little to complain about the vocals, so in that sense perhaps this should have caught on more than it actually did, but there is a boredom over the whole song that somehow won’t let go the ceiling.

The fact that it was also dark on stage at times probably didn’t do much for the boredom in the song to disappear and I guess I also feel that the song doesn’t quite manage to take off in any way, even if life is tried too hard for that to happen .

You never know what will come musically from this country and you can like that and since they started participating as just themselves they have only lost the final 3 times so they seem to have the basic recipe to get to the final and that is probably small reason to believe that it therefore has nothing in store next year that will also be a finale song.
