Arcade Eurovision hit in USA
ESC Covers received an interesting article from Norbert from INFE Ireland over the success of the 2019 Eurovision winner in the United States of America.
In the US Billboard Hot 100, Duncan Laurence makes his debut this week at number 100 with the winning Dutch Eurovision song of 2019: Arcade. It is the first Eurovision entry since 1996 to hit the charts in America.
The last time a Eurovision entry reached the Top 100 in America was in 1996 when Gina G’s Ooh Aah Just A Little Bit reached 12th place.
Duncan Laurence has already appeared in various TV shows in recent weeks, such as the Today Show and Ellen Degeneres’ talk show Ellen.
Arcade received attention again in recent months because the song was frequently featured on TikTok. This resulted in a new chart in the United Kingdom, Ireland and Germany. There was also a new version of Arcade with the American singer Fletcher. The new version, the success on TikTok and the appearances on US TV resulted in a position in the Billboard Hot 100.
Previous Eurovision entries that made it to the Billboard Hot 100 included Waterloo, Eres Tu, Volare, Save Your Kisses For Me and the instrumental version of L’Amour Est Blue.
