WORLD FIGURE SKATING CHAMPIONSHIPS – Mans and Polina to do the official song

ESC Covers received a press release from Stockholm.

At the end of March, the World Figure Skating Championships will be held at the Ericsson Globe in Stockholm, and it is now clear that world artists Måns Zelmerlöw and Polina Gagarina will make the official World Cup song together.

The World Figure Skating Championships is one of the world’s largest winter sports events with over 300 million TV viewers following the riders’ battle for the medals on the ice.

When Stockholm hosts the World Figure Skating Championships, it is the world stars Måns Zelmerlöw and Polina Gagarina who together make the official World Cup song. The artists met in 2015 in the Eurovision Song Contest final where Zelmerlöw took home the win with the song  “Heroes” and Polina Gagarina took second place with  “A million Voices” .

“We hope the official World Cup song will be something for the figure skating world to gather around and be proud of. With these two world stars performing the song, it will be widely spread and engaged by figure skating fans around the world,” says Ulrika Molin, project manager for ISU World Figure Skating Championships 2021.

The song, which has been titled “Circles and Squares “ , will be released on February 19 and is written by Måns Zelmerlöw, Stefan Örn, David Lindgren Zacharias, Sandra Bjurman and Jon Eyden.

“When we wrote the song, we wanted to meet the dramatic and dramaturgical in figure skating. I really think we got a song together that is suitable for the ice,” says Måns Zelmerlöw.

“For me, this collaboration is not only a journey to beautiful Sweden, where the world championships will take place, but also an immersion in the world of figure skating. I admire the riders. Everything they do seems impossible and fantastic to me. I am happy that Måns and I sing the main song for this big event “, concludes Polina Gagarina.
