Today, 4 April, is the 40th anniversary of Bucks Fizz winning the 1981 Eurovision Song Contest for the United Kingdom with Making Your Mind Up. If you were around what memories do you have of that time?
My own personal memory was being at a Pontins Holiday Camp in England and watching the show with a friend on a tv in the chalet. When Bucks Fizz won we were on a high! We then went to join other friends in the disco on the camp. As we arrived the DJ announced that Bucks Fizz had won Eurovision!! He instantly played the song and everybody was on the dance floor celebrating and happy! It was definitely a memorable time!

In October 1980 South Africa got video players and I bought one. A penfriend in London sent me the 1981 Eurovision song contest on a Beta video a day or two after the show and two weeks later I got it and watched it. 1981 is still my top Eurovision year. I love almost every entry and 3 of them are 3rd, 4th and 5th on my all time Eurovision. The ripping off the shirts of the two females will always be my number 1 WOW moment in Eurovision.
